Coaching Applications Now Open!

Happy New Year, Sea Lions!

Applications for Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions for the upcoming season are open now and will close on February 1st.

We’re seeking candidates with a swimming background, strong communication and leadership skills, and a passion for working with kids. Coaching with the Sea Lions is a rewarding experience and a great résumé builder, demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and a strong work ethic. We welcome coaches of all experience levels.

Head Coach Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive team culture balancing skill development, fun, and competition
  • Attend all practices and meets, except for approved vacation time (season runs early/mid-May through mid-July)
  • Supervise, support, and provide feedback to assistant coaches and swimmers
  • Plan and lead organized practices covering all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and meet strategy
  • Manage meet lineups and coordinate weekly responsibilities
  • Partner with team coordinators to set goals and vision
  • Model sportsmanship and team spirit

Strongly Recommended:
Prior coaching experience, experience supervising coaches, and familiarity with Meet Manager, SwimTopia, or similar tools.

Assistant Coach Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with daily practices and meets
  • Attend all practices and meets, except for approved vacation time (season runs early/mid-May through mid-July)
  • Be at least 15 years old by June 1, 2026
  • Teach all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and meet strategy
  • Promote a positive, fun, and competitive environment
  • Communicate effectively with staff and be open to feedback
  • Model good sportsmanship and professionalism
