SWIMMER MOTIVATION & RECOGNITION
We have a couple of things we do for swimmers throughout the season to show how much we love seeing their hard work, great attitude, and improvement week to week!
- SWIMMER OF THE WEEK/SWIMMER SHOUT-OUTS: Each week coaches will select a couple of swimmers after each meet that will get a shout-out in the pool's member flyer that gets emailed to all our members. They will also pick out a couple of swimmers to be our "Swimmer of the Week". These swimmers will get a Swimmer of the Week yard sign in their yard all week. We also have some little treats to give these swimmers at practice. We announce Swimmers of the Week at the beginning of our Monday Meet Memo so stayed tuned! This week is our first week to announce these swimmers!
- SPEEDING TICKETS: (See attached photo) If you've been to the pool this afternoon, you may have noticed, the first round of speeding tickets were posted today on the bulletin boards under the main shelter. Speeding Tickets are posted after every meet to swimmers who beat their previous record time in any stroke. Kids love it and we are always so proud of their achievements over the season. Several times throughout the season we have "cash-in" opportunities for swimmers to buy treats and small prizes using their speeding tickets. We'll send out alerts when we have those "cash-in" opportunities.
- RIBBONS: We have 2 file boxes under the trophy cases under the main shelter where we file any ribbons earned from the meet. Every family has their own folder in the box labeled with their last name. These will stay out all season.
END OF YEAR SLIDESHOW PICTURES NEEDED
We are already working on gathering pictures for our end of the season slide show. Please email pictures to Kristen Geyer at [email protected]. You can also share a digital album with her at that address.
CARY CITY MEET INFO & DECLARATION DEADLINE
Cary Swim Club will host the 42nd annual Cary City Swim Meet on Saturday, July 12th, 2025. We switch off hosting duties every year between SHRC and CSC. Below is the current information that we have. Please read through all the information even though it may seem like a lot. The deadline for ALL ENTRIES is Sunday, June 22nd at 6pm. All Payments are due by Monday, June 23rd.
GENERAL MEET INFO:
Cary City Meet (CCM) is an invitational meet that invites all the TSA South Division teams to compete against one another at a single location! As of now, there are 25 teams participating with upwards of 1000 swimmers that will participate this year. This is a super FUN meet for the kids and is often the highlight of the season for our swimmers! This event is not mandatory, but we do encourage participation. Since this event is out of our traditional 6-meet schedule, there is a registration fee involved per swimmer, but it’s worth it!
TEAM THEME:
Each team gets to pick their own theme. This year our theme will be Candyland.
Scottish Hills is known for its spirit at this meet, including costumes, team tent decorations, and plenty of dancing! The Tuesday Morning craft we do that week is CCM theme related and will be used to decorate and/or dress-up. We also encourage families to come up with fun costumes for the meet as well! Ideas will be sent out via email as we get closer to the meet.
MEET STRUCTURE INFO:
Due to how large this event is, it is split into two sessions, Morning and Afternoon.
Morning Session is for 10 and under swimmers: 8 am start to an estimated 12:30 pm finish.
Afternoon Session is for 11 and up swimmers: 2 pm start to an estimated 7:30 pm finish.
- 7-and-older swimmers may swim in up to 3 individual events and 2 relays
- 6-and-under swimmers may only swim 2 individual events, freestyle and backstroke. Please note the distance for 6-and-under swimmers for CCM is 25 yards, the entire length of the pool.
MEET SIGN-UP INFO:
Meet Entry for Cary City Meet is OPEN in your SwimTopia account. You will sign-up for it just as you would for one of our regular season meets. As soon as possible, please go into the sign-up calendar and find Cary City Swim Meet. The deadline for ALL ENTRIES is Sunday, June 22nd at 6pm. Here are the steps for meet entry:
1. Declare whether your swimmer will attend or not attend the meet.
2. If your swimmer is attending, you will choose their individual events.
3. Please choose whether your swimmer is available or not available for relays.
- The coaches will create relays and communicate to parents and swimmers if they will be swimming in a relay.
4. Leave any notes for the coaches in the notes section.
5. Click Save.
MEET ENTRY FEES:
- 6-and-under swimmers are $15
- 7-and-up swimmers are $25
You can pay by cash or check, made out to Scottish Hills Recreational Club. Please put your money into an envelope with your swimmers’ names on the front, you can leave it in the Ribbon Boxes we keep at the pool under the bulletin boards/trophy cases. We will collect money every day. Deadline to pay is Monday, June 23rd.
VOLUNTEERS:
Information about volunteering at the meet will be communicated by June 30th. Families will be able to sign up through Swimtopia. There will be volunteer opportunities the day of the meet, as well as leading up to and after the meet. We expect each family that participates in CCM to volunteer for one job shift. It is imperative that our volunteer spots get filled for us to participate in the meet! Thank you in advance!
Thank you if you have read all the way to here! Reading these emails each week really makes our life (and hopefully yours) a little easier.
